Founder and Chief Consultant
Matt Johnson, Founder and Owner, is experienced in the execution of strategy, sales / marketing, and data projects across many industries. He has been in the craft beverage industry for years working in Sales Strategy, Operations, and Brewing. Matt is certified by the Cicerone Certification Program, Beer Judge Certification Program, and multiple project management / business organizations. He is an active judge in the brewing competition circuit and is President of the MN Homebrewers Association. Most recently Matt has lended his expertise to August Schells Brewing Company through Sales Strategy and Analytics to create sales plans, market research, and operational guidance to broaden the business and flourish in an ever-competitive market. He has a formal technology background, including a Masters in Artificial Intelligence and Computation Theory, that lends to a tactical and methodical approach to building businesses from the ground up. He has spent many years as a Business Consultant working with companies ranging in size from Fortune 100 to <100 employees. He specializes in formalizing business goals, vision, and mission to create short & long-term roadmaps to turn aspirations into reality. His clients not only better understood themselves, but also saved money and grew as companies to help reach new heights. Matt’s passion resides in the craft beverage industry. In his free time he built a repertoire to better understand craft brewing and the intricacies of how the industry operates. He is Certified by the Cicerone Certification Program and the Beer Judge Certification Program. He is an avid homebrewer who is the currently residing President of the Minnesota Homebrewers Association. Taking his formal education, professional experience, and craft brewing knowledge - he has turned into a career in the craft brewing industry in Sales and Operations Strategy. He has worked for both craft breweries in Minnesota and the largest / oldest brewery in Minnesota that has multi-state distribution. He has built connections across the industry and knows how to combine industry data to identify trends, sales / market opportunities, and operational efficiencies that ensure success of a brewery.
